Located in a pre-war shop lot along Jalan Sultan, Jao Tim is a small wedding venue in KL that evokes a strong sense of nostalgia on entry. The former hotel retains much of its original elements—brick walls, exposed ceilings, and arched windows—but with a contemporary art deco twist. We’d rate it 10/10 for any Great Gatsby-inspired weddings.

Steeped in history and colonial charm, having Rumah Tangsi as your small wedding venue means you’ll be celebrating your union in one of KL’s time capsules. Originally built in 1907 as the home of businessman Loke Chow Kit, the Neo-Classical building was meticulously restored in 2012 before it reopened its doors as an event space.

Today, the entire mansion—main hall, foyers, courtyards, and all—is said to fit up to 350 people. While there’s no need to occupy the entire space all at once, you could break up your wedding proceedings (tea ceremony, exchanging of vows, and reception, for example) into different rooms.
