NGL we’re sad to see most of our pandemic privileges rescinded, but one pandemic-necessitated trend that’s still on the rise—and happily so—is the small wedding. It’s the sweet spot between an elopement and a blowout, and a passable option that will appease even the most private couples. And guess what? With a small wedding, you’ll probably be able to finish that meal you’ve carefully planned and soak up every blissful moment of your matrimony—talk about having your cake and eating it too! So if you’re set on having a small wedding, we’ve got just the venue rundown for you. These are seven of the best small wedding venues in KL for an intimate and tasteful celebration.
Keep It Small At These Charming Wedding Venues In KL
For the purpose of clarity, we’ve defined ‘small’ as 100 guests and below.
1. Pokok KL
If you’re toying with the idea of a small outdoor wedding venue but your big day falls right smack in the middle of monsoon season, Pokok KL has it all sorted. The cafe’s glasshouse concept invites the outdoors in, so you’ll be surrounded by lush landscape come rain or shine. Catering and event styling are available too, so you can easily hit three birds with one stone.
Capacity: 40 pax (viking table), 50 pax (theatre sitting or standing crowd)

2. Jao Tim
Located in a pre-war shop lot along Jalan Sultan, Jao Tim is a small wedding venue in KL that evokes a strong sense of nostalgia on entry. The former hotel retains much of its original elements—brick walls, exposed ceilings, and arched windows—but with a contemporary art deco twist. We’d rate it 10/10 for any Great Gatsby-inspired weddings.

3. The Chow Kit
Beyond its tastefully designed hotel rooms, did you know that The Chow Kit’s award-winning Kitchen & Bar is also available for venue hire? Seating up to 60 guests, the elegant space pays homage to the district’s storied past. And if food is just as important to you as ambiance, you’ll have the option of curating a menu just for your special day.
Capacity: 110-120 pax (cocktail), 60 pax (seated)

Address: 1012, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Chow Kit, 50100 Kuala Lumpur
4. Rumah Tangsi
Steeped in history and colonial charm, having Rumah Tangsi as your small wedding venue means you’ll be celebrating your union in one of KL’s time capsules. Originally built in 1907 as the home of businessman Loke Chow Kit, the Neo-Classical building was meticulously restored in 2012 before it reopened its doors as an event space.
Today, the entire mansion—main hall, foyers, courtyards, and all—is said to fit up to 350 people. While there’s no need to occupy the entire space all at once, you could break up your wedding proceedings (tea ceremony, exchanging of vows, and reception, for example) into different rooms.
Capacity: Up to 350 pax
Address: 10, Jalan Tangsi, Tasik Perdana, 50480 Kuala Lumpur
5. Colony Star Boulevard
If saying ‘I do’ on a rooftop garden with the soaring Petronas Twin Towers in full view sounds like a dream to you, you’ll want to pop by this small wedding venue in the Klang Valley for a recce. It also offers a modern ballroom to accommodate your post-vow reception, as well as complimentary usage of the kids’ play room and nursing room, which will come in handy if your guest list heavily features parents.
Capacity: 200 pax (cocktail), 180 pax (theatre), 160 pax (banquet)

Address: Level 5, Star Boulevard, Jalan Yap Kwan Seng, 53300 Kuala Lumpur
6. The Estate KL
Whether you prefer an outdoor wedding or an indoor fete, The Estate KL is a small wedding venue that offers both. Choose between the sprawling Garden with a spectacular view of the KL skyline or the opulent Grand Foyer in the stately White House—both are great for intimate solemnisation ceremonies, kenduris, or small-scale nuptials.
Capacity: Grand Foyer (up to 80 pax), The Garden (up to 350 pax)

Address: 333, Jalan Damansara, 50480 Kuala Lumpur
7. The Godown
Tucked away along Lorong Ampang opposite Jalan Tun H. S. Lee, The Godown is an art space that holds potential as a small wedding venue in the Klang Valley. On top of the rustic Main Hall, which accommodates up to 150 people, there’s also a semi-open air building with a second floor space (pictured above) that’s ideal for private receptions and dinners for up to 40 guests. Just keep in mind that moving rental furniture to the second floor will be a bit of a chore, though not impossible.
Capacity: 40 pax (reception), 25 pax (seated)
Address: 11, Lorong Ampang 7, 50250 Kuala Lumpur
Be Sure To Book Your Dream Small Wedding Venue In KL Early
If you’ve fallen in love with any of these small wedding venues in KL, it’s best to plan ahead and secure the space earlier rather than later, especially in the case of dry hire venues. Your venue and vendors go hand in hand, so the sooner you book your venue, the more time you’ll have to search for vendors, such as catering services and door gift providers.
