First announced in July 2021, the Huawei P50 Pro finally gets its long-awaited release in the global market after its home debut. Compared to its predecessor, the P50 Pro features upgraded hardware\u2014for the most part. It has an updated design with a central circular hole punch instead of a top-left pill-shaped cutout. Around the back, two giant round camera<\/a> bumps housing four camera lenses<\/a> replace the rectangular module on the P40 Pro. For those wondering, yes, Huawei<\/a> is still partnering with Leica in the photography department.<\/span><\/p>\n

While Huawei\u2019s reputation for making excellent hardware is never in doubt, the P50 Pro does come with a few caveats. There is no <\/span>5G<\/span><\/a>, which is unfortunate considering that the first consumer-level 5G network has just gone live in Malaysia<\/a>. Samsung\u2019s Z Flip series<\/span><\/a> finally has a worthy rival with the announcement of the P50 Pocket. Huawei\u2019s latest take on the <\/span>foldable<\/span><\/a> phone design sees it going for the flip phone form factor that is, ahem, more pocket-friendly.<\/span><\/p>\n

It features similar dual-camera bumps on the P50 Pro but with a neat twist. That is, Huawei has placed a tiny cover display on one of the bumps that serves multiple functions. You will be able to check notifications, receive calls, access your playlists, and even take <\/span>selfies<\/span><\/a> without opening (or unfolding) the phone. Specs-wise, it packs overall flagship-level hardware and runs on the same HarmonyOS software as with the P50 Pro. Like its non-foldable sibling, it also doesn\u2019t come with 5G support.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Besides the standard P50 Pocket in white, Huawei has also collaborated with haute couture designer Iris Van Herpen to produce the P50 Pocket Premium Edition.
