Algae Buster is an unique product to manage PO4 (Phosphate) and algae that somehow, unfortunately, grow abundantly in fish and shrimp ponds. Algae Buster contains an active natural mineral Lanthanum; that selectively binds with PO4 and locks it up permanently as a harmless mineral. Once it is locked up, it can no longer be used by algae and so farmers will have the ability to control how much PO4 is in their ponds. PO4 along with Nitrogen - is a basic nutrient for algae. The optimum ratio of N:P for algae is known as the Redfield ratio and is 16:1. By keeping the ratio close to the optimum, all the different types of algae will have a chance to grow and compete with each other. When there is too much PO4 in the water, the ratio deviates from the optimum, resulting in the P-loving algae BGA to dominate. Too much PO4 will cause booms and bust blooms which adversely affect greatly marine life.
